Surface Preparation in Coating Applications
We would like to discuss the critical role of surface preparation in ensuring the effectiveness of coating applications. Proper treatment of a material’s surface is essential for achieving optimal results.
Surface preparation involves several processes, including the removal of contaminants such as dirt, oil, and flaking materials. A compromised surface can significantly hinder adhesion and undermine the integrity of any subsequent coatings applied.
To achieve a clean surface, techniques such as Ultra High Pressure (UHP) water jetting or Hydroblasting are employed. Operating at pressures between 2000-3000 bar (30,000-43,500 psi), these methods effectively strip away old coatings and corrosion.
By investing in thorough surface preparation, we can enhance the longevity and performance of coatings used for maintenance, repair, welding, painting, waterproofing, and corrosion-proofing applications. This proactive approach minimizes future issues and costs.
